(Please refer to group appendix 4.3). The products offered by your competitors are fairly different in comparison to what J Js Fish and chips will be offering however pricing strategy is very similar except that J Js fish and chips is portionally lower compared to the competitive prices. (Please refer to group appendix 4.1 and 4.2) 2.0 Economic, social, political, legal and technological environment 2.1 Legal Structure and Ownership We recommend that you operate as a sole trader, when identifying which business structure would best suit your situation, when considering which legal structure you should use the following where measured and reflected Advantage Start-up costs Control of business operations Disadvantage Unlimited liability Death of owner may result in ceasing the business 2.2 Barriers to entry A barrier to entry is where a new business is restricted in entering the industry due increase in competition. Competitors will reduce profitability for the existing entities as a result of gaining market share. The barriers to entry for the hospitality industry are lower compared to other industries (D.Bowie and F.Buttle 2004). Some of the barriers to entry are: the threat of new entrants, the threat of substitutes, Capital requirement, (Please refer to group appendix 5.1) 2.3Licences, permits, standards and compliance As rules and regulations develop and expand they will continue to influence the hospitality industry. The standards which your business needs to comply with is the NSW Food Act 2003, which includes ensuring food is safe for sale which is suitable for human utilization, to prevent misleading conduct and to guarantee that application of the Food Standards code. As your business is in the field of the hospitality industry you will be required by the Food Act 2003 to inform and advise the authorities of your food handling activities. If you fail to meet this requirement then a heavy penalty will be enforced. Another important and very crucial Act that needs to be implemented and followed is the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000. This Act is important as it ensures the safety and health of working conditions for the employees and employers; this is done by providing research, education and training in the area of occupational health and safety. (Refer to management) 2.4 Market and industry, size of market, trends, the target market, and consumer behaviour The following trends were found for the hospitality industry for 2003-2004 and 2006-2007. à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ According to Australian Bauera of Statistics (ABS) in Australia by the end of 2004 there were 15,083 cafe and restaurant businesses operating. Which included 13286 restaurant and cafes and 1796 catering businesses. à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ There were 1.1 million places available for new restaurant and cafe (ABS 2007). à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ By the end of June 2007 the numbers of restaurant and cafe businesses in Australia were 13987. Thus in 3 years period there was a decrease of 7.2% in restaurant and cafe businesses (ABS 2007). à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ In the period of 2003-2004 total income generated by cafe and restaurant businesses were $10129.6m which is on average of $671600 per business in comparison to 2007 statistics of income generated by restaurant and cafe $693700 per business (ABS 2007). à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ Most of the cafes and restaurants were small businesses and about 63% having less than ten employees during 2003-2004 (ABS 2007). 2.5 Market There is a global increase in demand of fish and chips restaurants, such as rapid according to Yum 2010 increase in sales at its Pizza Hut and KFC restaurants in china (Yum 2010). U.S same restaurants the sales were up by 1%. McDonalds corporation is also planned to have more than 2000 stores by 2013 in mainland China (Appendix 12.5). As mentioned above the global demand for the fish and chips restaurants are increasing however in Australia there has been 0.6% declined in trend growth in restaurant and cafes as consumers are cut back on discretionary spending and there has been an increase in sales of food in retail sector by 1.8% as consumers are looking for ways to save, thus instate of going to restaurants or cafes they just buy food from retail stores and saves (Isobel Drake 2009). In June 2007 there were 145546 people were employed my restaurants and cafes where as in the year of 2003-2004 there were 15000 employed by restaurants and cafes. There has been a decrease (ABS 2007). Also as mentioned above there has been 7.2% declined in restaurant and cafe businesses in 2007 (Appendix 12.5). 2.6Target Market According to the primary research that was undertaken we came to the conclusion that the main target market for your business would be school and university students between the ages of 11-24, in saying this another age group which you would base your marketing at is business people. We came to this conclusion that students would be highly likely to purchase fish and chips as it is a cheaper alternative and it is something quick to eat. As for business people, the research that was undertaken concluded that 45% of business people would purchase lunch on a daily basis. Also the surveys brought back a result that majority of the business people enjoyed eating fish and chips in comparison to other junk foods, in particular in the area where your business will be operating as there are numerous businesses operating there We undertook primary research and came to the conclusion that families are another market which you should target. Families tend to want to go out together and have a nice lunch or dinner that is not too expensive and to be provided with good customer service and quality food, all of which your business can provide. Therefore we recommend that your target market should be students, business people, and families, we recommend that as you expand your business later on that you will also expand your target market. (Please refer to group Appendix 3.1) 3.0Market Strategy 3.1 Price Price is the final figure that you will be charging your customers for the services provided. It is recommended that the price you charge your customers is a reasonable amount, because if you are overcharging them, they are inclined to go to your competitors. By providing a reasonable price to customers it will give you the opportunity to generate an attractive margin of revenue while at the same time providing value to customers. Thus the price of the products and services that the business will provide will be based on expenses which include variable and fixed expenses and industry average price. (Please refer to appendix 6 for meal prices). Another pricing strategy that you may want to consider in future is implementing regular discounts to encourage customers to return J Js Fish and chips on a systematic basis. It is an imperative to (http://www.entrepreneur.com/marketing/article70824.html). 3.2 Promotion Promotion is one of the most important and crucial aspects of the business, it involves transferring all your ideas to your target market. It is important that your customers are informed about the products and services you will offer therefore it is extremely important that you select the correct advertising mechanisms. Based on the research which was undertaken the most efficient and effective advertising mechanisms include Pamphlets Newspaper Website Internet social websites such as Face book These advertising mechanisms are recommended to be used as they are affordable and easy to implement. (Please refer to appendix for advantages operations) (http://www.entrepreneur.com/marketing/article70824.html). 3.3 Place Your business will operate in the suburban area of Fairfield, the location of your business can affect the amount of sales generated. Because if you choose to locate your business where the target market is minimal then it is going to be difficult to be able to sell your product and services. The amount of people passing your business is important it is crucial to consider the surroundings near the location of your business. 3.4 Product The product range is mainly fish and chips. There are four types of seafood which comes with chips. So the consumers can choose any types of fish they like and it comes with chips. The fish are 100% fresh as they are ordered daily and fried as it is order. Also chips are 100% fresh and they are also fried as they are ordered. The fish and chips dish come into vary sizes. They are small meals and large fish and chips meals. There are also 3 types of sauce ranging: tomato sauce, chilli sauce and barbecue sauce. There is also the option of buying the chips by itself, which comes in small, medium and large size. All products are 100% fresh and are supplied by local certified suppliers. The business main focus is customer satisfaction by providing fresh and tasty fish and chips with a reasonable price. 3.5 Process Processing refers to the way the business is set up from where the customer orders all the way through to customer delivery. The business system should be set up in a way that has high efficiency and minimum waiting time. Having poorly designed processes can make it difficult for employees to perform well. Procedures need to be put into place to deal with activities such as Customer complaints Serving customers Answering phone calls Being productive and helpful with customers Training employees to use equipment By implementing these processes it will make it easier to function around the working environment. It is important to implement a procedure where you will provide customers with a quick, efficient and effective service as it is highly likely that they dont want their time being wasted waiting. (For customer waiting time please refer to operations) The business should have a system where frontline and staff on the background can do their job in the most efficient way and be able to communicate effectively (refer to operation). 3.6 People: J Js Fish and chips will not be able to operate efficiently and effectively without good employees. Employees will need to provide good service to customers hence employees will need to be able to interact with customers. Your employees are the first who will interact with the customers and therefore it is extremely important that the employees have the skills and knowledge on how to deliver accommodating and supportive customer service. Hence training staff members to be compassionate and respectful when performing their job is an imperative, as it will ensure the success of your business. If you are providing high quality food and high quality customer service it will have a positive effect on your business. A way to improve and to generate pleasant working environment is by encouraging team work between employees and providing incentives to motivate employees to interact within business activities. It is recommended that your business will have at least 4 employees including yourself, hence facilitating the business to manage any amendments that may occur example an employee is ill and cant attend to work. The most significant areas staff may require training will be Using new machinery Communication skills Selling techniques Using new materials and equipment Customer service Using the Point of sale system (POS) (Refer to management section for staff training) 3.7 Physical evidence The way your product and service appears in the market has a big impact on success of the business. People form an opinion about the business from what they observe in the first minute of interaction. The physical appearance of things such as staff presentation, image of the restaurant, presentation of the food and the environment will all impact on the success of the business. Strategies to Enhance Ecuadors Technological Industry
Strategies to Enhance Ecuadors Technological Industry Renny Alexander Amaguaya Llamuca Abstract Ecuador is a very diverse country, known worldwide for its gigantic capacity to generate raw material. However being a developing country many consider it as incapable of generating technology. Currently the implementation of innovation programs has allowed an interesting evolution, that is to say that the Ecuador based on the technology, processes of automation and changes the academician has the capacity to improve its economy and introduced in the field of the technological research. These ambitious projects have made the country start a technological revolution. All Ecuadorians are working hard in the training of creative students, as young minds will be in charge of generating resources and developing the country. At the same time, scientific research is becoming one of Ecuadors fortunes; the country is moving forward and has a promising future We can do it. Introduction There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource. Without creativity there is no progress and we would always be repeating the same patterns (Edward de Bono). It should be emphasized that the industrial revolution was a very important starting point, because a very creative mind decided to do something different and thus began the human evolution. Technology is a characteristic of the human ability to build, from raw materials; a wide variety of objects, machines and tools, as well as development. It uses the scientific knowledge in order to respond to human needs and applies at industry to obtain optimal solutions. Technological advances have become essential, just look around in every moment and place we are surrounded by it, it is always present to make the life simpler. In Ecuadorian industry, technology is indispensable. In fact, most scientific efforts focus on the creation of new technologies and raise the production. Ecuadorian universities are currently preparing young people with great skills and brilliant minds, who are focusing more on environmental innovation and on a change of the productive matrix. These universities have developed a new educational system, in which the main interest is to foster creativity and innovation. The use of technology is immeasurable and will continue to change, based on the demands of its citizens and the market. However, Ecuadors technology industry could be enhanced through a school curriculum based on creativity and innovation in these ways: 1, technological programs at schools, 2 places/vocational centers where youths can obtain practical knowledge and 3, improve automation. Technological Programs at Schools First of all, the technology industry can be enhanced in Ecuador by technological programs at schools. Schools have to strive to implement custom methods where students can increase their creativity. Those kinds of programs are planned and designed carefully to such an extent that they maintain an impeccable order so that the development of these technological activities are completely effective for a continuous learning. Activities to be carried out are structured according to the age of young people. This teaching process is very similar to that implemented at Ohio State University in Columbus. Colleges place greater emphasis on learning material [and] Jung fears that opportunities for thoughts to flow freely are fewer now than in the past(Ossola, 2014). These programs have as main component its curriculum based on creativity, which is made up of activities that can be widely developed. Those were created to be developed without previous technology experience, Rex Jung (Professor of neurosurgery at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque) said, creativity is innate, it needs to be cultivated. Inside this curriculum, students should confront flexible programs, too. A great example of this implementation is University in Columbus; Ted Clark has been working with a number of high schools throughout Ohio to integrate creative problem (flexible programs) solving into science classes(Ossola,2014). According to the article Technology, Innovation, and Education(Harvard, 2014) schools are planning to get the key to unlock the freedom of students minds, because youths use the regions of the brain involved in daydreaming and imagination(Ossola,2014) and schools want to use that imagination. According to Joe Blatt Director of TIE The Technology, Innovation, and Education Program is a proven gateway to rewarding leadership careers in creating, implementing, and evaluating educational media and technology. Technological program is a way to train creative leaders in education with a continuous and very close interaction midst faculty and students. Therefore, Ecuador has taken a similar strategy where the objective of its program is reach a high standard of education based on the correct development of the creative skills of the students. The leaders of this technological program take as an example the objectives of the Finnish education system; The Finnish system is built on trust: on autonomous learning, on the value of teacher work and on the overall quality of the proposal(The Finland Phenomenon, Compton, 2012).In short, this fact must be a huge evolution to the next generation of students whose ideas would mean an extreme change for the whole Ecuador. Places/vocational centers where youths can obtain practical knowledge. Second of all, Ecuador should create Places/vocational centers where youths can obtain practical knowledge to enhanced Industry Technology. Practical knowledge is closely related to the use of technology as a didactic learning medium, according to Scientists Are More Creative than You Might Imagine (Ossola, 2014) practical activities would appear to take the magic out of the creative process, like having to explain your own joke.It means that students are excited about the possibility of using technology and are therefore more apt to learn. In addition, during this process of up-to-date learning, not only is it possible to get more information, but also to develop skills that are exclusively developed in the practical field. Exclusively Skills from practical knowledge. According to the article Solve a Teaching Problem(Mellon University, 2015),today youths are bored of study because the old style of teaching cans their minds, students learn better with a practical knowledge so Ecuador needs places where enough technology elements are available to youths to use it freely and encourage the development of innovative technologies. When youths work for a purpose, goal or own dream, the effort will be minimal because they will be free to act. This freedom will allow you to develop your own skills such as: The opportunity to interact with peers The collaboration Student responsibility Allow to take more control over the learning process Learn to make important decisions Ecuadors technology industry needs such sites to promote the desire of young people or children to create new technologies without fear of innovation failure; It will allow a continuous innovation in the country. Improve automation. In other hand, Ecuadors technology can be enhanced by improved automation, some of the few industries still work with old technology, because their bosses still thinking that humans can do their job better than a new machine. Automation means a technological change in the industry where first of all the production will be improved in time, economy and quality. People that above all have so much creative and knowledge can change the process of production based on the imagination to solve any problem. For instance William Kamkwamba the builder of windmills in Malawi is currently working on a design for a windmill powerful enough to pump water from wells and provide lighting for Masitala, a cluster of buildings where about 60 families live (Childress, 2007). Ecuador would add a technological medium that offers a more effective production process that demonstrates the technological development of the country. In the last decade the developing countries have made a great effort to close the industrialization gap, out of a total of 142 countries analyzed in 2012, Ecuador is in the 96th position, rising twelve seats in relation to the previous year, date In which according to the 2011 WEF report, it was at 108. Today the Ecuadorian government is working on a program to attract scientists, but to achieve this, it is necessary to carry out a long-term financing policy for the development of science and technology. Ecuador wants to change the last productive matrix where it was based on buying technology, but why not create? This fact could boost to the creation of new industries, where technology and science research might enhance the Ecuadors industry. Conclusion Ecuador over the years has managed to acquire a minimal technological evolution, which has undoubtedly improved in the last decade, but is succeeding in maintaining a quality technology thanks to the small educational revolution that the country achieved. All this progress demonstrates that our culture has succeeded in improving learning and developing new skills. State-owned enterprises are currently looking for business development and better customer service, based on technologies that can provide satisfaction. Beyond importing the latest technology, the state seeks to improve the economic, social and technological structure. Ecuadorian industry should try to implement selected pilot programs to promote the environmental care, trying to be a pioneer country in technological development focused on environmental protection. Vocational centers and automation are technical keys to improving the innovation system in Ecuador. Innovative uses of technology, increasing the availability of information workstations and providing training in theoretical centers. Young people enjoyed training time to improve competition in innovation. New types of technology simulations should also be implemented in schools to improve basic curriculum training, which will make it easier to integrate technology with students. In addition, the relation between creativity and practical knowledge previously obtained will help to reduce the lack of automation in the Ecuadorian industry. Taking place to the true transformation of productive matrix. My Mom the Powerhouse Essay -- Descriptive Essay Examples
My Mom the Powerhouse One of the biggest influences in my life is my Mom. She is one of 10 children born to an Appalachian coal miner who could not read or write. Her family lived in the mountains of Kentucky in a little cottage that had no running water and no electricity. She read by kerosene lamp. As a child, she attended a one-room schoolhouse, which also had no electricity and no running water. There was one teacher for eight grades, and each row in the classroom was a grade. My mom says she liked listening to the lessons of the higher grades. There was a big, black potbellied stove in the middle of the room, between the fourth- and fifth-grade rows. My mom couldn't wait to get to the fourth grade so she could sit by the warm stove in the winter. She got her drinks of water from a big bucket in the back of the schoolroom. She would make a little cup by folding writing paper, and she would use a metal dipper to take water from the bucket and put it into the cup. She says the water tasted like the writing paper. At Christmas, my mom's family couldn't afford a tree o... ...She whispered softly, "I was 10." I try to fathom what it would be like if my mom had died when I was 10. I can't imagine, and I'm glad I haven't had to experience that. I must admit that my mom and I sometimes disagree because we're both so strong-willed. Actually, my father affectionately calls my mom "just plain stubborn." But now I realize that her will had to be powerful to pull her through tough times. I am thankful that she taught me to be determined and to focus on the positive. She says those two things can help everyone survive.

Puritan Values in America Today Essay -- essays research papers
Purely Americans The Puritan people migrated to what is now present-day America due to their persecution in Europe. Their religion observed many beliefs that did not agree with other European Christians. These ideals stayed with the Puritans as they settled in America to build their idealistic, utopian society. Even though Puritan society was largely unsuccessful in meeting their expectations, several of their fundamental values are still exemplified by Americans today. These beliefs included the dislike of anything dull, an intense hatred of tyranny, and the idea that America is a shining example for the rest of the world to follow. The Puritans left no room in their lives for idleness of any kind, they strongly believed unoccupied hands were tools of the devil. A vast majority Puritans also had virtually zero patience for what they presumed to be ignorant people. Powerful attention grabbing speeches were delivered about avoiding idle people and being unoccupied themselves. Subsequently, Modern America also hates to be bored, there is a continuous need to be entertained. ...

Essay about email Essay
EXPLAIN ELECTRONIC MAIL? Electronic Mail Is The Most Polular And Most Misused Service Of Internet Electronic mail or simply E-mail is very much popular now-a-days for its speedy transmission of informationââ¬â¢s and cost effectiveness. Hence information provided by a sender is delivered asynchronously to a point where it can be retrieved and processed later on by one or more recipients of the senderââ¬â¢s choice. In an E-Mail system, there is a number and the sender keeps on dialing the desired number till he/she is successful. Once it is connected, the PC terminal of the sender sends the message to the PC terminal of the recipient at a very high speed. There is no need of any physical presence of both the sender and the receiver. The sender can enter the message and the receiver can retrieve it whenever he/she is free. The message will remain in PCââ¬â¢s memory. The transmission of messages is usually done through landlines (telephones) or satellite communications or through marine cables. E-mail has lot of advantages to its credit. Advantage Of E-Mail (i) It is cost effective. Very less money is required In comparison to other transmission device. (ii) It is time saver. Within very short time messages can be sent, (iii) There is no need of presence of either the sender or the receiver. Once the message is entered into PCââ¬â¢s it will remain in the receiver PCââ¬â¢s memory. (iv) E-mail transmission is very speedy. It is four times faster than FAX and ten Times faster than telex, (v) There is the system of using password which each subscriber can choose to use. Hence E-mail gives security of message. Disadvantage Of E-Mail (i) Emails may carry viruses. These are small programs that harm yourà computer system. They can read out your email address book and send themselves to a number of people around the world. (ii) Many people send unwanted emails to others. These are called spam mails. It takes a lot of time to filter out the unwanted emails from those that are really important. (iii) Emails cannot really be used for official business documents. They may be lost and you cannot sign them. (iv) Your mailbox may get flooded with emails after a certain time so you have to empty it from time to time.
